Liberty Bar.

Gabriel Contreras, Liberty Bar

Nestled in the heart of Southtown, Liberty Bar is a gem that combines history with culinary creativity. Housed in a beautifully restored convent, this easygoing eatery serves up unique American fare all day long. It’s the perfect place to unwind, enjoy great food, and sip on inventive cocktails—like the one Gabriel’s shaking up for the Kinsman Brandy Alexander Tour.

Gabriel comes to us from the Valley and is an alum of Texas A&M (ugh, they’re everywhere!). It was there he met his fiancé. With a degree in Entomology, Gabriel’s journey to bartending might seem unconventional, but his passion for crafting unique cocktails is undeniable. When Gabriel isn't behind the bar, you can find him two-stepping his heart out at a local honky tonk. He’s the kind of guy who can teach you a mean two-step and has a knack for tiki drinks. Oh, and did we mention he’s training for a marathon? With his trusty military macaw cheering him on, life is never dull for Gabriel.

Gabriel’s creation for the Tour is the B.A. On Vacay—a concoction that combines bold flavors and a touch of whimsy to keep a smile on your face. The first sip is smoky, savory, and unexpected—thanks to the bacon fat washed Kinsman, a first on the Tour. That savory depth is perfectly balanced by the sweetness of the mango cream and chocolate liqueur. A splash of Liber and Co. Fiery Ginger Syrup adds a spicy kick, and two dashes of mole bitters round out the flavors with a touch of warmth. Finished with a garnish of fresh lemon zest, it’s a cocktail that has something for everyone—smoky, sweet, and just the right amount of kick. So, if you’re in need of two-step lessons or just a delicious cocktail, stop by Liberty Bar and try Gabriel’s B.A. On Vacay now through NYE.
